George Marandianos works as a researcher in the Artificial Intelligence and Learning Systems Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens since 2014. Beeing a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology of the National and Kapodostrian University of Athens, with a major in Psychology, he has worked on the CARE project (a Sentient Context-Aware Recommender system for the Elderly) with situationally appropriate recommendations to encourage physical, mental and social activities, all aimed at increasing individual quality of life and vitality of the elderly. He studied conflict-handing models for school enviroments, for the creation of a Player-Specific Conflict Handling Ontology concerning an adolescent game for the International Journal of Serious Games, with the aim to encourage the player to develop an integrative way of dealing with conflicts. Having concerned himself mostly with research based on emotion analysis in human-machine interaction, his present areas of interest include affective computing, focusing primarily on the creation and correct interpretation of annotation work created from multimedia content based on human users. He was a member of the organizing committee for the IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (IEEE SSCI 2016) which took place in Athens on December 2016.
